Cushy CMS makes handling mostly static websites a bit simpler for you and clients by adding an interface between the user and the HTML. By adding the Cushy class into the HTML of the page, you make it a little bit easier to go in and edit pieces of the site without it being completely hosed.
Of course this comes at a price. The interface is Cushy branded until you fork over $28 bucks a month. This fact is quite odd considering the market. If you have enough clients to justify that, then you probably don’t need it.
As you can tell from some link love, we use WordPress here at SDA. This is one of the many programs available to setup a blog. Some of us are fond a particular blogging platform. But once I have one under my thumb, I like to try something new. Of all the other platforms to jump to, Habari recently caught my attention. It has been around for a little while, but it is quite the hidden gem. First stumbled upon it randomly before SDA was taken off Blogger, but then forgot about it.
Needing to get my personal site off of Blogger, it was a chance to check out the software which I was reminded of due to some mentions in Friendfeed. Its pretty sweet, its interface is clean and simple. Video below:
On the occasional one off chance I go out with some friends (yeah, you heard me, I do have friends,) and we grab a bite to eat, we have a tendency to share what we got amongst one another. Obviously this causes some issues though with proportions and the very often uneven number of cheese sticks.
So I brought forth an old game of chance some years ago, a game I learned from a family member long lost. Simple premise really, six six-sided die, pick a number you want to wager on and how many rolls it’ll take to make them all reach that number (max of 6 tries,) each die that hits it is taken out of the game for that round. Whomever completes this trial in the shortest number of attempts wins.
An example would be this, I pick the number 4 and offer to have all six die hit that number within 3 rolls. First roll I have three 4′s and they are removed, 2nd roll I have another 4 and it is also removed, last roll though, so sad, I missed. Now if the other person says “3 in 6 rolls” and makes it in that many or less, then the last cheese stick goes to them. If there is more than one person, then it goes to the first person to match their goal numbers, or whoever came closest after a predetermined number of rounds.
So save yourself the long involved process of deciding “No you take it, NO YOU TAKE IT! LISTEN I SAID FRAKING TAKE THE FRELLING CHEESE STICK!” and let fate decide who gets the bigger piece of pie.
Unfortunately, current society has lost much of its inclination toward altruism. It feels like nobody wants to lend anyone a hand anymore without reaching for money with the other one. In rare cases, people band together for the common good. One of those cases occurred on Friendfeed called Free Hour.
Whoever needs help can post a question (one needs to be a member of friendfeed to do this, but there is no further obligation to the service afterwards) and there is a lovely list of folks who are ready to help out. There is even a wiki open giving further details about the participants.
Feel free to drop by the link and check it out, it is frequently checked and the folks are looking forward to helping out.
