Been meaning to drop a post about Zemanta for a little while now since we use this service for almost all of the posts here at The SDA. When the site first opened up the biggest challenge was finding the best way to not have to tag the entries myself. Various auto-tagger plugins just were not very efficient or required me to join to get an API for yet another service that was not worth squat. In strolls the lovely dear Zemanta a little while back and I am hooked. Not only does it make automatic suggestions of tags that are actually relevant, it also suggests links and related photos/articles for the occasion as well. While the photo gallery requires at least the 300 character minimum for auto suggestion to be anywhere near accurate, there is an option to tell Zemanta to suggest the links and tags with far less information without sacrificing quality. Zemanta also gives multiple of options for installation. It can be installled as a plugin on WordPress and Movable Type. It is also available as a Firefox or Internet Explorer Add-on which supports WP, MT, Blogger LiveJournal, and TypePad. When Zemanta is used on an entry there is a reblog link added to the page which you are free to remove. I have left it on this entry, and only remove the graphic on other entries so the service can still be tracked on the site, but I’m probably just going to leave them there now. Screenshot:
