Disqus updated their product today.
- Made the site a bit less ugly.
- Enhanced the integration with your blog so you retained a database of your comments.
- Brought the management system into the Admin section of WordPress (it seems to be an iFrame, but its better than having to go to Disqus and login to moderate)
- The comments are indexable by search engines.
- Uses the Disqus API so you can tweak it,
- And it now has auto-sync of comments with Disqus and WordPress database.
Thats the straightforward list.
Beyond that, the folks in charge have basically taken care of a vast majority of the issues that people had with the service. More importantly I cannot think of any other complaints (outside of blogspot integration issues which are not really their fault) that remain.
Installation for the upgrade was very simple and even though I had to adjust the coding when I initially added Disqus, it did not require any further tweaking to keep it working. My comments synced right away and the management area is much appreciated.
If you are still apprehensive about using Disqus, you may want to check out the forums there, but I recommend it more than ever.
